| RAFT UP 2004 – “A Slice of the Island Life”
It was a beautiful Saturday morning; we drug ourselves out of bed right at the crack of 10:00 o’clock in joyous anticipation of what lay ahead. Visions of sun and sand and lots of friends filled our heads as we drove over to Capt. Wayne Hoyts house for a ferry ride to Stump Pass. On the way, we kept seeing people that we knew, and it didn't take long to figure out that this was not going to be just and ordinary Raft Up, this was a full blown Flotilla of Parrot Heads all headed for the Island south of Stump Pass. 17 boats and their Captains volunteered to transport as many as they could. Wayne Hoyt even made several trips so that no one got left behind. There were even seven Kayaks. All in all, there were (drum roll, please) 70, that’s right SEVENTY of our fellow Parrot Heads in attendance. There was food, (boy, was there food) plenty to drink and if you ran out, just fall flat on your face, reach out your hand in the shape of where a beer should go, and in no time you’re rescued. Many thanks to all the boat Captains for transporting all of us otherwise landlocked Phlockers. Please, make every attempt to attend our next Raft Up. Wouldn’t it be great to a hundred or so Parrot Heads together just to have fun? Everyone there wished Marla and Larry a Happy Anniversary. What better way to celebrate than with seventy friends full of good cheer, or was that good beer? No matter, as long as they had a good time.
