Alzheimer's
Benefit Golf Tournament:
Usually held in October, a four person scramble with picnic following
at Twin Lakes Pavilion. Club provides burgers and dogs and members
bring a dish to pass. BYO cooler and chair. Prizes and dancing to
follow. |

Birthday Party:
Weekend party held at the Holiday
Inn Riverfront, 100 Riverfront Blvd Bradenton just across the street
from Manatee Memorial Hospital. 941-727-3727 Bands, pool party
and buffet dinner with dance and party following. Usually held
in June. Reservations necessary.

Bring Your Own Everything. This includes:
cooler with beverage, food, chair etc.

Clean-Ups:
The Club has adopted Edwards Island & Bay
Island Park (by the North Siesta Key Bridge). We clean these sites
four times a year, then hang out enjoying 'island time.' Lunch
of burgers & dogs provided as a thank you, BYOB.

Conga:
A line formed by the Parrot Heads, joining
at the shoulders or the waist with a dance through the crowd to
the tune of Margaritaville or Fins. Mostly performed during our
monthly flocking.

Christmas
Party to Benefit "Toys
for Tots":
Party held the 1st or 2nd Sunday in December. All paid members are
welcome to attend party. Guest will be charged a nominal fee. Admittance
is a $10.00 gift per person to be donated to Toys for Tots. Cash
bar. Reservations necessary. |

Eternal Reef:
Using the same technology developed
for Reef Balls, these balls are special in that they are permanent
living memorials for families whose loved ones cremated remains are
interned into the concrete molds. These are considered a living memorial,
in the fact that they are again encouraging marine life in and around them. Our
Club has partnered with these folks, lending assistance as needed,
in turn for their support of our club. |

Happy Hour:
A Parrot Head gathering,
usually on a weekend at a cool bar with a great band. Info in newsletter
or club "One List".

Le Barge:
Party boat moored at Marina Jacks Basin.
Rt 41 and Ringling Bridge. Minimal charge for passage, cash bar
onboard , entertainment. Usually a sunset cruise or evening,
reservations necessary

Loser:
An affectionate term used to describe the
person who purchased a raffle ticket and left the meeting before
claiming his prize. The word "loser" is said
at the same time as a hand-shaped L is positioned on the forehead.

Monthly
Meetings:
Held
the last Thursday of the month, Jan-Oct (November is one week early
due to Thanksgiving) There is very little business discussed at these
meetings, we dance, sing, share some team drinks, make some announcements,
raise a little money through raffles, induct our new members, sing & dance
a little more! |
MOTM:
(Meeting of the Minds)
The annual meeting of the Parrot Head Clubs from around the world.
Usually held early November in Key West. Reservations MUST be made
thru PHiP and were SOLD OUT in 2004. If you plan to go, get your reservations

Parrot Head Island: (Edwards
Island)
Our adopted
this island, we have cleanups, picnics and Survivor there. We meet
at the park on the West end of the Siesta Bridge and take a boat
ride to the island. BYO chair, cooler, sun and bug lotion and anything
else you think you might need.

Peace
River Canoe Trip:
Held on the Peace River in Arcadia usually in November. SR 70 to
Arcadia. Turn left on County Rd 661 800-268-0083 Reservations necessary |
Pelican
Man Bird Sanctuary:
Located on Ken Thompson Parkway just across the parking lot from
Mote Marine. (A benefactor of the 1997, 2004 and 2005 SBPHC Birthday
Party). Members built a cage for the Monk Parrots and then constructed
a new entrance. |
PHiP:
Parrot Heads in Paradise Inc.
The national organization
of which all official Parrot Head Clubs are chartered through. Our
clubs requirements to PHiP are: submitting bi-anual reports on
community service projects, fundraising and manhours contributed,
pay $1.00 per member dues and send a membership roster to them.,WWW.PHIP.COM |
Phlocking:
A
gathering of the Parrot Heads for a fun time. |
Poker
Run/Pub Crawl:
Held
in the Pubs along the street in Siesta Village. Buy a drink, get a
playing card. Visit the five named pubs and receive one card from
each. Make the best poker hand possible. |

Raft
Up Parties:
Meet your
friends for a day in the sun. We meet at two locations.
1. New Pass Sandbar. Come by boat or if you have
no boat, go to the park on the North side of South Longboat Bridge.
Give the fins up sign and someone from the Parrot Head Navy will
pick you up. BYOE.
2. Stump Pass Sandbar. Local Englewood Boat Launches are Indian
Mounds Part off Dearborn Street or Placida Rd ramp located just before Lemon
Bay High School on Ainger Creek. Boaters traveling the Intra Coastal Waterway
should turn west at Marker 17A, Check newsletter or one list for more info as
the date gets closer. |
Reef
Innovations:
This
is the company that is involved in the construction and deployment
of Reef Balls, which are specially designed concrete, artificial
reef modules. They are made with a marine friendly concrete. These
units are used to create new reef formations and protect existing
natural coral reefs and also providing a new marine home for fish,
coral, and other marine animals. The club is currently involved with
this company, building Parrot Head Reef, in the Gulf off Lido Beach. |

Survivor
Games-Parrot Head Style:
Held on Edwards Island, these games are similar to the TV show. All
are welcome to observe. This is an all day team competition. Contestants

A sunset celebration on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, April-October. Always at Siesta Public Beach under the big Oak tree located south of the Public Pavilion near the tennis courts. Just BYOE and walk towards the beach. |
